PHOTO 51: MOLECULES OF LIFE
by the Digital Media Group
Glasgow Science Centre

photo 51 by Rosalind Franklin

Photo 51, the X-ray diffraction pattern, gave Watson and Crick the insight to describe the structure of DNA. We follow the theme of machine-generated images of the natural world to synthesise an environment in which we float in the nano-world of vast and accurate molecular structures of life’s building blocks.
The images will be generated in real-time 3D stereo by our SGI Onyx supercomputer and can be seen in our Virtual Science Theatre at Glasgow Science Centre.
